History and nature intertwine in this complex in San Sadurniño, a place that invites you to connect with the environment, learn about the native flora and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet by the river.
The Pazo da Marquesa, the former stately residence of the Marquis of San Sadurniño, dating back to the 19th century, is now an example of heritage restoration. After extensive renovation, this building now houses the San Sadurniño Town Hall, whose staircase is made of toelo (serpentinites). Its historic gardens, now open to the public, have become a place for people to meet and enjoy themselves.
Adjacent to the Pazo is the Finca da Cortiña, where the Native Fruit Tree Conservation Orchard is located. This area connects with the start of the river Xubia walk. This pleasant riverside walk runs alongside the calm waters of the river Xubia, a watercourse of great ecological value included in the Natura 2000 network (Xubia-Castro SAC).
The trail, ideal for the whole family, passes through a lush riverside woodland and leads you to discover the Arboreto Galego, home to the Fraga Máxica. This unique botanical garden showcases the main tree formations of Galicia and is home to artistic surprises, such as wooden sculptures that add a touch of magic to the route. It is the perfect place to immerse yourself in nature and relax to the murmur of the river.
The Arboreto Galego hosts two major fairs, the Planting Fair and the Rural Fair.
