The heart of the Camiño Vello

The heart of the Camiño Vello

O Porto do Cabo is an ethnographic and historical meeting point where three municipalities come together: Valdoviño, Cedeira and Cerdido. This enclave, of great scenic value, stands as an emblematic point on the Camiño Vello (old road) to Santo André de Teixido sanctuary, where tradition and nature merge.

Within this area, Casa da Bastona should be mentioned, an old inn that offered shelter and sustenance to pilgrims, and which still retains its essence. Here there is a medieval bridge alongside other traditional buildings that reflect life in days gone by. This place was also home to the caldufeiras, women who offered broth to travellers to relieve their fatigue on the journey.

Its location at the crossroads of three towns makes it a unique geographical and cultural link. Beyond its ethnographic and heritage wealth, the surroundings offer views of a valley of great beauty, which perfectly complements the experience of immersing yourself in the history and traditions of this ancient route.
