The O Casón castle viewpoint, also known as Miradoiro do Casón, is a place of great historical and scenic interest. Here, on top of an ancient castro, you can find the remains of an old medieval fortress, whose origins date back to the late 9th or early 10th century. The structure of what was once a watchtower with three walled enclosures and a moat has been preserved.
The views from here are spectacular, taking in the entire Ortigueira estuary, from the mouth of the river Mera to Punta de Estaca de Bares.
