Cedeira Sea Museum
A window into Cedeira’s identity
This museum, strategically located near the port, is designed to illustrate Cedeira's deep connection with the ocean, not only as a source of livelihood, but also as the shaper of its cultural and human landscape. Its main aim is to preserve and honour the legacy of the seafaring people who, generation after generation, have dedicated their lives to the sea and fashioned the identity of the town.
The Cedeira coastline is key to understanding its rich natural diversity, with characteristic rock formations such as schists, gneisses and amphibolites that emerge from the cliffs and intertidal zones. These rocks, formed during intense tectonic processes, have given rise to a rugged coastline with steep cliffs, sandy beaches and small coves. The variety of reliefs and landforms, such as fractures and folds visible in the cliffs, contributes to the diversity of coastal habitats.
