The Punta Frouxeira lighthouse is a distinctive feature of the coastal landscape and one of the most important maritime landmarks in the area. It stands on a rocky platform and blends harmoniously with the Punta Frouxeira coastal battery, an old 20th century military installation.
This battery was part of the defensive network of the Ferrol estuary, with the aim of protecting a stretch of coastline and the entrance to the estuary from possible naval attacks. Although no longer in use, its structure is a testament to the strategic importance of this site over the course of history.
From this point, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic, the cliffs and the coast of Valdoviño, making it a place of great scenic beauty. In addition, a trail starting from the lighthouse allows you to explore Punta Frouxeira itself, walking through breathtaking landscapes.
